HYMNE À L'AMOUR

HYMNE À L'AMOUR: Edith Piaf (France)

Mon amour, puisque tu m'aimes...
Mon amour, crois-tu qu'on s'aime?...
...Dieu réunit ceux qui s'aiment!

"Stacey Kent has all the essential elements of a remarkable jazz singer: great song choices, unique phrasing, a strong, flawless quartet accompanying her, and most important of all, a smooth, effortless, honey-dripped voice. But her thoughtfulness in every word, gesture, and song is what makes her special."

That is taken from Richard Nahem from the blog Eye Prefer Paris. His blog takes in all the sites and sounds he sees in Paris everyday, all the while giving walking tours for tourists visiting the city.
While I was searching his blog, I came across the music section and was in awe. Jazz music is my favorite music and he writes about artists with such eloquence that draws the reader into wanting to know more. The latest artist is Stacey Kent, who has become a world-wide known jazz singer that jumped off the charts just after her first album release. I listened to a few of her songs and fell in love with her voice! She is one of the few artists today that possesses the old style of the classics like Billy Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. The way she sings each note with such grace causes you to drift into the music and forget about everything.
This quote is taken from her bio off her website at www.staceykent.com; I find that is sums up how she sounds as an artist better than anyway I could ever describe it:

"Stacey Kent is a revelation. There is nobody singing today who can compare with her. She has the style of the greats, like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. And she sings the words like Nat Cole - clean, clear and almost conversational with perfect phrasing. And that's as good as it gets."

I am a huge movie buff and am willing to watch anything and everything. One of my favorite types of genres is foreign films. This is the first of french films that I actually enjoyed. I loved watching this actress and I found the storyline interesting and easy to follow. I recommend this movie if you love movies too, though you have to be willing to watch a movie with subtitles. Watch the trailor and tell me what you think!
